My name is Shellie Taylor and I graduated Penn State University with a degree in Medieval Studies. I am the Program Specialist at the Troutman Branch of the Iredell County Public Library system and I love being exposed to that much literature on a daily basis. You can look for my recommendations on upcoming books that I have reviewed based on the Advance Reader’s Copies I receive from publishers.
In both reading and writing I enjoy historical biographies, particularly British Royalty or history pertaining to the British Isles. My primary preference for fiction genre is fantasy, but I am always exploring new challenges for myself in my writing. I also love a good mystery or suspense-thriller novel and I love historical mysteries. As a librarian I have a variety of new authors at my finger tips and I love being able to discover new writers and genres outside my comfort zone.
At my library I run a monthly book club called Themes & Treats where I choose a different theme each month and all the members read a book of their choice that pertains to the theme. We drink Starbucks coffee and eat sweet treats while discussing the books we’ve read. This is a great way to receive recommendations from friends (or even strangers!) and have thoughtful discussions with other book lovers.
I host another blog called The Tree where I cover research tips and stories on genealogy research which is near and dear to my heart. I do a lot of work in the Local History department of my library and I love reporting my findings.
All writing advice, opinions, and criticism is very welcome. Feel free to contact me for suggestions and questions. I am always open to collaboration requests as well, because I feel we writers learn best from each other. Enjoy!
