Because I am in the process of moving, I was unable to post this on the Professor’s birthday, but better late than never! To Professor I send my profound gratitude. I would not be the writer, or reader I am today without his influence. His saga of Middle-earth has taught me that no story is too big to tell and that the greatest narratives come from truth and history. Myth and history are made of the same stuff, as the Professor once proclaimed in “On Fairy Stories.” I hold that to be true and understand that nothing is worth writing, or reading, without great strength, heart, and above all courage. Thank you Professor Tolkien for all the inspiration you have provided for generations to come.

I graduated Penn State University with a degree in Medieval Studies and Latin. I work at the Iredell County Public Library in North Carolina and I'm currently studying to earn my Master's of Library Science from Appalachian State University. I love reading, writing, and genealogical research. I'm always looking for new information and new research techniques. View all posts by FamilyHistorian
